Decks and Other Items

If you are looking for Source Turntable information there is now a separate blog,  HERE.

ODYSSEY TURNTABLES (such as there were).

This deck was made in 1981, with a slate plinth, and a slate platter.

The next deck was made in 2009....

As should be obvious, I wasn't really into making decks, although I had lots of designs. They were too costly and problematic to produce without substantial resources.

This one has Source internals - platter, sub platter, bearing and motor - but uses a three part plinth, to isolate top plate, arm/platter plate, and motor plate.

CONNECTORS

There were a number of connectors manufactured in Hong Kong, some using non-magnetic nickel substrates. Most were for coax cables, and there was a standard tonearm connector. Lots of gold plate...

I later discovered that there were also black phonos being produced as well, which I didn't know about.

Speaker connectors too, with locking pins.

CARTRIDGE

Odyssey Engineering MC Cartridge. Output: 0.3mV Stylus pressure range: 2.0~3.0 grams(Recommended 2.5 grams) DC resistance: 4 ohms Net weight: 5 grams.  Designer: Toru  Ebisawa
1985

A low compliance design by Roundale Research, which went very well with the Gold Signature.

It had a nude elliptical stylus and a fancy material for the cantilever. Mine disappeared while in storage. I still have the box and spec sheet. Recently, one has come to light, and I am looking forward to trying it out with a gold arm, if I ever get round to making one again

LIFT/LOWER DEVICES

And another item which I had forgotten about:
In 1981, Jack Lawson of the Music Room in Glasgow didn´t buy any arms, but did ask me to make a batch  of cueing devices for the AT 1503....  I currently have a 1501, but needless to say, I haven't got round to making a cueing device for it. Jack is still in business in Glasgow.
